National Titles 2008
The NSW Veterans Cycling Council hosted the 2008
National Titles in Dubbo, NSW from Friday 26 September to Sunday 28
September 2008. Events were contested included Time Trial, Criterium and
Road Race Championships. The Road Races and Time Trials were held at the picturesque
village of Wongarbon, only 15 kilometres from the centre of Dubbo while the Criterium
races were contested on a closed street circuit in Dubbo itself. The road race / time trial course
was on a genuine road course which is NOT flat but undulating and provided an excellent racing experience.
The weather was perfect for the three days of racing,
and the countryside was looking as good as it gets. Not that a lot
of the competitors took the time to check out the scenery, as the racing
was fast and furious.
Thanks to all 75 competitors who entered and came to
Dubbo to race. I am sure most people enjoyed the courses and the
competition.
Thanks also to all the Dubbo volunteers, who set up
signs and barriers, stood at various road intersections and turn points,
and put up tents and banners. We would not be able to hold an event
like this without your help, and so a big THANK YOU from all the
organisers and competitors.
The Russell Mockridge Trophy for the Time Trial was won
by Bill McConnell from Torquay in Victoria.
The fastest time was done by Roy Clark from Lilydale in
Victoria, who completed the 25k undulating course with an average speed of
39.7 kph.
